Why we made DoughBot?

There was a time when we would remember the house had a landline phone with a sparkling dial, a kodak film camera for taking pics, a tape recorder to play the latest hits & a wardrobe full of books ranging from cooking recipes to magazines. Any technological product is essentially a time machine as it unravels generational leap of a technology and underlines its contribution to respective generation.

Fast forward this image to today, we no longer have these Russian era gadgets, these are all replaced by one small, neat looking phone in our hands. This miniature device that is less than half the size of a landline phone offers unparalleled communication power and host of functions that we had never ever imagined – music listening, movie watching, surfing internet, clicking photos, shooting videos and what not.

Our quest to automate food making got us talking to several hotel owners, who surprisingly revealed us that making roti’s continue to be a highly cumbersome job. What made us surprised was our pre-conceived belief that the pain of making roti’s has already been solved by several roti makers that are been currently sold in the market. However, we were left least surprised after some hard facts came in front of us following a deep research into the matter. These hard facts plainly told us that almost all the roti makers out there are either very inefficient or not user friendly.

Below we’ve shared some of these facts:

  • Most roti making machines are not stand alone devices. They require attest 3 and in some cases 6 separate devices (contraptions) to make rotis.
  • Current roti makers cannot be exactly termed as very energy efficient. Apart from 3 phase power connection, they also need an LPG connection & a compressor.
  • Several of the roti makers are been manufactured by local companies, which often fail in offering quality after sales services to their customers.
  • 2-3 helpers are always required to efficiently run a roti making machine.
  • Most roti makers failed in delivering the promised count of 500 rotis per hour.

We just realised this is the same opportunity just like the bifurcated mobile phone. We wanted to bring one machine that could do all these jobs. The answer, to these queries is DoughBot, designed inhouse at Mukunda Foods.

What are the key advantages of Doughbot?

  • It is a one stop solution
  • The unit has been built on the best in class electronics & mechanics.
  • The machine has been designed to measure the dough+oil+water, mix them, knead them, roll them into a smooth dough ball & convert the same into a disc
  • DoughBot is designed to ‘never waste.’ You’ll see zero waste.
  • Space saving machine – will save tonnes of real estate space.

What doughbot cannot do?

  • It does not puff the roti’s. We left this option to you, thereby giving you the freedom to make roti or poori and even paratha.
  • Our research also found that puffing rotis end up compromising the taste and hence after lot of thought we decided to leave this technology from our product.

So come be a part of this new food revolution, get a Doughbot today, adapt to the latest technology and leave behind those outdated and obsolete roti making machines. Settling for these roti making machines is like trying to adjust to a landline phone in today’s era of mobile phones. And just as today’s mobile phones are symbolic of modern technological capabilities, so is our Doughbot machine.

Last but not least, DoughBot is proudly Designed, Developed & Manufactured in India and there by making a vital contribution to the make in India movement.
